چکیده
a pressor response to the Valsalva maneuver. Beat-to-beat changes in stroke volume, blood pressure, pulse pressure, peak blood flow, duration of systole, duration of ejection, and heart rate were calculated. Stroke volume and blood pressure rose with the onset of straining; blood pressure rose slightly further as stroke volume fell to below control levels at the end of the straining period. Pulse pressure, peak blood flow, and duration of ejection tended to follow stroke volume. Heart rate was unchanged throughout. All parameters returned toward control after release of the strain.

Comparison of the effectiveness of tourniquet and Valsalva maneuver in relieving pain caused by propofol injection to induce general anesthesia: A double-blind randomized clinical trial
Introduction: Propofol is one of the most common anesthetic drugs. Painful injection with a reported prevalence of 28 to 90% in various studies is one of the problems of taking Propofol. The present study investigated the effect of performing the Valsalva maneuver and tourniquet twisting on pain intensity and hemodynamic changes. Materials and Methods: This clinical trial was performed on 105 p...
متن کاملClinical evaluation of vasomotor system functionality in type 2 diabetic Patients
Background: Autonomic neuropathy and vital organ dysfunctions are the known complications in type 2 diabetes Mellitus (DM). Genetic endowments involving individuals make subtle differences in physiological systems, particularly at the time of sickness. Hence, the presented study was designed to evaluate the vasomotor system in healthy people and type 2 DM cases for determining any functionality...
متن کاملComparison of three methods of Valsalva maneuver, lidocaine, and Valsalva maneuvers along with administration of lidocaine to reduce the pain associated with administration of Propofol
Background: Propofol is commonly used in anesthesia practice because of its rapid recovery time, but pain upon injection is one of the unfavorable complications of this drug, which can cause both physical and mental discomfort for patients. Therefore, it is important to lower the pain on injection of Propofol in patients undergoing anesthesia. As a result, the current study was conducted in ord...
متن کاملArterial blood pressure response to heavy resistance exercise.
The purpose of this study was to record the blood pressure response to heavy weight-lifting exercise in five experienced body builders. Blood pressure was directly recorded by means of a capacitance transducer connected to a catheter in the brachial artery. Intrathoracic pressure with the Valsalva maneuver was recorded as mouth pressure by having the subject maintain an open glottis while expir...

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Patients of orthostatic hypotension may or may not have symptoms of the cerebral hypoperfusion despite fall in the blood pressure. The present study was done to quantify autonomic functions and cerebral autoregulation in patients of orthostatic hypotension with or without symptoms. METHODS The study was conducted in 15 patients of orthostatic hypotension and 15 age, se...
